DAMN THE WITCH SIREN - (Electronic Rock)
“Damn the Witch Siren is an electronic witch rock duo taking cues from 80's pop, early 90's dance, hip-hop, and punk rock. They are also witches.” - website
Bobbi Kitten and Z Wolf have made a name for themselves in the Columbus, Ohio underground music scene, however, they may be heading on a skyward trajectory that leaves the underground well below their feet. I love the local music scene here in Columbus, and ultimately there is a psychological pull that makes you want to keep these great artists and musicians a secret, so that you can keep them all to yourself. But sometimes, they need to break out and be free from their midwest cages. Notable bands like Twenty One Pilots, and Caamp both started in these smaller musical scenes, and have risen to gain national attention. Bands like WYD, Souther, Doc Robinson, Son of Dribble, Joey Aich, Mungbean, and Damn The Witch Siren all have the makings of potential future stars. But in the meantime, I’ll be listening to their music in small dark venues with cheap drinks and a hundred people, completely content with keeping them all to myself. But that’s rude…fly free you wild ones.
With their recent collaboration with Columbus, Ohio based Loose Films and their new film Poser, which Bobbi stars in and Z scores some original tracks for, Loose Films also utilized some original songs from the band. I have become a big fan of these two, and I look forward to seeing what comes next for them.
“Claire Danes” (Spotify link above) is definitely a track to check out. Here is the music video for their latest single release “Vulture Culture”…

O CAPTAIN! MY CAPTAIN! by Walt Whitman
O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done,
The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won,
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring;
But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.
O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up- for you the flag is flung- for you the bugle trills,
For you bouquets and ribbon’d wreaths- for you the shores a-crowding,
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
Here Captain! dear father!
This arm beneath your head!
It is some dream that on the deck,
You’ve fallen cold and dead.
My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still,
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will,
The ship is anchor’d safe and sound, its voyage closed and done,
From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won;
Exult O shores, and ring O bells!
But I with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.
