1) FILM / TELEVISION
GOOD TIME - (Directors: Benny Safdie & Josh Safdie, 2017)
“A bank robber stops at nothing to free his brother from prison, and launches himself into a whirlwind, night-long odyssey through New York's dark and dangerous criminal underworld.”
If you missed this one when it was released in 2017 then I highly recommend retracing back to Good Time. Directed by the Safdie brothers (Uncut Gems, 2019), this crime thriller combines superb acting by Robert Pattinson, Benny Safdie, and the entire supporting cast with a fast paced sequenced film and gritty cinematography, the kind that always makes me tingly on the insides. The Safdie brothers are legit filmmakers that are here to stay.
*Also, if you just think of Robert Pattinson as the “Twilight guy”, then you need to shift your perspective and start watching the work he has made in the last decade with films like this one, The Rover, Tenet, and The Lighthouse. And I have to say The Batman was pretty damn good too. Check it.
2) MUSIC / PODCASTS
THE TESKEY BROTHERS - (Australian Blues Rock)
“The Teskey Brothers are an Australian blues rock band from Melbourne, named after the two brothers who formed the group in 2008: Josh Teskey and Sam Teskey. The band also includes Brendon Love and Liam Gough. In 2019 they signed with Glassnote Records and Ivy League Records.” - Wikipedia
I hear inspiration from Otis Redding and Sam Cooke with these gentlemen. A modern version of those heart clenching soul blues. The Teskey Brothers came onto my radar a couple years back, and I’ve been digging them ever sense. If you like this style of music I would highly recommend checking them out.

3) ART
GIULIA BERNARDELLI - (Italian Artist)
Art by spilt coffee. That is the origin story of how Giulia Bernardelli started to paint by coffee, and the results are fascinating.

4) BOOKS / WRITING
THE DAILY STOIC: 366 MEDITATIONS ON WISDOM, PERSEVERANCE, AND THE ART OF LIVING - (By Ryan Holiday, and Stephen Hanselman)
BOOK SYNOPSIS: “The Daily Stoic offers 366 days of Stoic insights and exercises, featuring all-new translations from the Emperor Marcus Aurelius, the playwright Seneca, or slave-turned-philosopher Epictetus, as well as lesser-known luminaries like Zeno, Cleanthes, and Musonius Rufus. Every day of the year you'll find one of their pithy, powerful quotations, as well as historical anecdotes, provocative commentary, and a helpful glossary of Greek terms.”
I have been diving into the teachings of Stoicism, and have been amazed at the thought processes and insights from these ancient leaders. Their ideas still hold true today, for making yourself a better human being, and living a healthier, stress-reduced daily life. Ryan Holiday also hosts a podcast called The Daily Stoic, which is a definite recommendation, and one that I will likely highlight in more detail in the future.
